What are faculty fishbowls?
Our so-called “Faculty Fishbowls” are small group opportunities for alumni to hear what our faculty are doing now and a chance for you to reflect on how their teaching has shown up in your lives post-Chapel Hill.
The format of the session is similar to a reverse career fair-style of event. In the lounge, faculty members are assigned to a station, and alums are welcome to choose any of the faculty they wish to connect with. There may be more than one alum at a faculty table at any time. Alums will rotate to another faculty station every 15 minutes or so to give them a chance to meet all of the faculty.
At your station will be a fishbowl full of prepared questions to help facilitate conversations. Feel free to use these, or not! We know that these conversations can often turn into a rekindling of the deep and personal connections with one another. There are no rules here!
At the conclusion of the session, please join us for a Happy Hour Reception in Latané Plaza for food, beverages, music, lawn games, and extended time for connection.
Location: Graduate Student Lounge (1st Floor of McColl)
